Looking Back & Moving Forward

Wow 2012 is slowly coming to an end. This month I wanted to make sure I gave myself a few days off to spend with my kids and in turn clean up some of my files from this year. Seems like this business has morphed into something I could have never visioned when I started and I spent just about every weekend a month shooting. The year started out with a newborn and will be ending with a maternity session (to be shot on the 29th of Dec). Ironically 2013 will begin with that same newborn’s 1 year photo shoot. I shot countless babies, toddlers, families, animals, and even landed on the cover of TWO local magazines that graced thousands of mail boxes around the south sound. Those two covers are today proudly displayed in my office next to my main inspirations and why this business is here – my two beautiful girls. Funny that all this started with me posting a few photos of them online.

This year I pushed myself outside my comfort zones of years past and think I finally found my signature style. I found a love and respect of working with natural light, which to a photographer is EVERYTHING that makes the image. I also was so lucky to have made so many new friends and connected with a few from High School days. I often joke that this business should be called Kentwood High School Alum Photography, as so many are class of 1995, 1996 and 1997 grads.

I’m a firm believer of making New Years Resolutions and sticking to them. I have big goals for this business and look forward to you coming along for the ride once again.  Here’s to 2012 and the gorgeous images created. Below are a few of my favorites in no particular order.
