FAQ for before, during, and after your shoot
What should we wear on our shoot?
*Newborns are best brought to the shoot nude. I have a ton of cute hats, flowers, bows and tu-tus for wrapping your newest addition in. If you like bring a favorite blanket or headpiece.
*Kids are best as you see them daily. Try to keep your family looking like them. Jeans photograph great and color is best. So many folks like the white shirt and jeans look, but try to think outside the box. Color is what really makes a photo come to life and I love color. If a child has a favorite toy – bring it! The goal is to create images that tell a story about your children.
*Family like children is best natural. Try to stay away from being to matchy match. But think in terms of the same color palate. Take in account your setting. If we are shooting in an urban area, think jeans, bright color, fun boots, etc. For a field, think flowing materials or pastels.
Do you supply props?
Yes being a mother I have crates of fun items that work wonderful on film. However feel free to bring something of your own. Examples like a skateboard, trike, wagon, stuffed animal, etc.
Why Does Custom Photography Cost More?
There is a great article on this on a site called “why custom photography cost more.”
It might seem like a lot when you look at it but when you break down the hours spent together you will see that this goes far beyond a chain studio experience. And I ask – how often have you been lead into a chain studio that claims no session fee, to leave dropping over $300 in prints and disk? With me – you have a one on one personal experience. You are never rushed. And together we can create images that capture your life.
Where can a session be held?
I’m always down for ideas if you have them. I live in the south end so I prefer to stay close to home. I do charge a $25 travel fee for places that are over 25 miles from my home in Bonney Lake.
Newborns are best done in the comforts of your home. Try to give me a space near a big window. If you don’t have that you are welcome to come to my home. Families and kids can be ANY where. I like going to parks, grassy fields, down by the river, or to urban streets. Even your home can be a great backdrop.
What if it rains?
We live in Washington folks. It’s bound to rain. I work with you to find a day where the sky is just right. I will not throw a session together on a bad weather day just to make a buck. Over cast is fine though and actually is the best light to shoot in.
How many images will you take?
This is dependent on the subject. I will shoot as many as 100 plus images to short through. I select ones with best light, color, emotion and of course eyes open. LOL. Depending on your package I will only edit these select few for your disks.
